Brunei.events unveils new look

Brunei.events, a local event listings e-platform, has unveiled its refreshed website earlier today, featuring a polished look, additional features, and an easy-to-use interface.
The website now has a cleaner look that is up to date and easier to navigate, bearing slightly tweaked colours – teal and orange.
The vibrant orange can be seen on the dot placed between ‘brunei’ and ‘events’, symbolising the plethora of events featured by the platform while teal is a change from the previous blue used on the word ‘events’.
The e-platform was launched by Deputy Permanent Secretary (Tourism) at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism Wardi Hj Mohammad Ali and accompanied by Chief Executive Officer MMW Azlan Ahmad.
In his opening speech, the CEO said that brunei.eventshas recorded close to 500,000 page views since its inception in October 2017.
“On average, there are 60 registered local events recorded monthly with more than 70,000 visitors recorded as of January 2020,” he said.
He further said that the website has garnered consistent visits from the United Kingdom, United States, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia, among others.
Speaking at the sidelines of the event, Deputy Editor of brunei.events Amir Hazwan said that the upgrades were to better provide locals and foreigners alike, giving access to information on the latest happenings in the country.
“This includes a new search function to find events just by using their location, making it a more seamless experience for users,” he said.
Previously, the website offered limited options for registered users to post their event listings.
With the improved platform, event organisers can now sign up and choose between two packages; standard and premium.
The standard package, which is free, gives limited access to subscribers to post their events with only two listings per month.
In a press conference, Deputy CEO of MMW Michelle Lo said, “The package gives a brief preview of what you can attain by using brunei.events as a platform.”
For the premium package, it has an affordable fee of $100 per year which enables subscribers to analyse and get reports on how their events are performing or have performed through an additional statistics page.
“By choosing this package, organisers will get unlimited access to post their events, interact with (even more) features and get a sales report which can be beneficial (for their business),” Lo said.
Furthermore, the features also include a new instant messaging function on the website where visitors can enquire about the listed events directly with the organisers.
Talking about the benefits of the premium package, Amir said that users will able to handle their own ticketing and merchandise sales with assistance from the e-platform.
“With unlimited posting options, access to statistics and boosted posts (when necessary), subscribers can definitely gain more by choosing the premium package,” said the deputy editor.
Not just event listings, organisers can also invite brunei.events to attend their events and provide coverage while visitors of the site will be able to provide reviews of the events that they go to.
“This new function encourages event organisers to plan and execute their functions better,” he said.
The website is developed by MINT, an interactive division of MMW and is an initiative supported by the Brunei Tourism Board with Redbull Brunei as the official energy drink partner.
